Islamic Center Santa Cruz booth event in the held at Great America, Santa Clara, organized by muslimunity.org
August 11, 2007 ( All Day)
Venue: Great America, Santa Clara, CA
Address:

We are pleased to report that we had a successful day in the event organized by muslimunity.org at Great America. This all-day event is held annually by the group and attracts several thousand muslims all over the bay area. We the Islamic Center of Santa Cruz had our own booth setup to attract fellow muslims for donations and fund raising to our masjid.
We raised $279 from the donation box not including the pledge forms and checks that inshallah the visitors will mail in. We also setup our affiliate distributor of the Quran chip where a portion of the money of any chips we sell will go to our masjid fund. We are currently working on an online service where users can buy the chips online. We sold 2 quran chips in the event and felt we could have sold a lot more. It generated a lot of interest amongst the visitors but we need to make the presentation and price more clear for the customers to buy.
The important thing that came out of this event is that many people didnt know about our masjid and this was a great way of getting them to know.
We all did a tremendous job and I want to extend my thanks and appreciation to all of the team members especially to Brs. Faiz, Houcine, Ali and Sis. Miriam & Latifa. We have great things to look forward to to make our Masjid and fund hugely successful.

Please check out some of the event pictures.
Next event: Dinner 25th August, 2007 at the capitola center as well as preparations for the month of ramadan. Lets all come together like we did here and make this a big success.
Wasaalam - Br. Ferdouse

Community Dinner
May 19, 2007 ( 6.30pm)
Venue: Subud House, Soquel
Address: 3800 Old San Jose Road Soquel, CA 95073

Alhamdulillah, our dinner event was attended by many of our community brothers & sisters and we were able to raise almost $10,000 dollars towards our new masjid. We now have approx. $190k and need to raise at least another $90k in the next 3 months and inshallah $1 million by the end of the year. This does not mean we need to wait until we raise that amount, we can secure a place like a plot of land well before this. Br. Munaf presented some possibles available places that are currently available in the market. Insahalla we will continue to research more places and keep you posted on the site of our progress in the fund-raising as well as the roperties/location. Br. Abu Naiem our Amir presided over the event.

We had a wonderful evening program with Br. Houicine reading an excerpt from the Quran. Followed by Br. Sami who talked about the merits and significance of having a masjid. You can see a video posted here of Br. Sami delivering his talk. We all conducted the Maghrib prayer with the Adhan delivered by Br. Samsir and the prayer led by Br. Sami. This was followed by an excellent dinner of lamb/rice with salad and many desserts. We are most thankful to Br. Hassan Ayyad for his kind donation and generosity of the excellent food. Thanks to everyone for their kind generorsity and help regarding this event, include Br. Ferdouse for helping coordinate this event.

Inshallah we will host another dinner, so please offer any help or any suggestions with regards to this important goal.
